Easy Holiday Recipe for
Gingerbread Cookies

Every year, I make these gingerbread cookies for the holidays.

They are family favorites and my all time favorite cookies.


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup sugar


In a large bowl, beat sugar, butter, molasses and egg until fluffy. Mix remaining ingredients except for the final 1/4 cup of sugar and stir in with sugar mixture. Refrigerate for an hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread parchment paper over baking sheet. (The easiest way is with the parchment paper.)

Drop tablespoon sized cookies on the parchment paper and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Enjoy!
