Mom's Easy Homemade Apple Sauce Recipe
My 92 year old mother always made this simple homemade Apple Sauce. It is an easy way to enjoy apples during their peak time in the Fall.
3 Pounds (10 Medium) Tart Red Apples
1/2 cup sugar (or less if you want apple sauce less sweet)
1 teaspoon Cinnamon (according to your taste preference)
Pare, quarter, core and thinly slice apples. This will make about 10 1/2 cups.
Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Add apples to oven safe baking dish. Cover and bake at 225 degrees stirring several times until soft and ruddy color (about 2.5 hours).
Stir in sugar and cinnamon to taste.
Remove from oven and enjoy (then chill later if desired).
